|
| Reliable network and website monitoring using Paessler's proven and constantly refined IPCheck technology which has been used for network management by many companies from SOHOs to Fortune 500 worldwide since 1997. Sensor types include PING, PORT, HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP Advanced, HTTP Transaction, DNS, SMTP, POP3, FTP, SNMP, as well as various native Windows system sensors and native SQL sensors for MS SQL, MySQL and Oracle. Network management notifications can be triggered by server uptime, downtime, changed webpages, or slow responses. Messages can be sent by email, network broadcast (net send), ICQ, via SMS and to pagers. The free for personal and commercial use is limited to 5 sensors and minimum monitoring interval of 15 minutes. It can be upgraded by requesting a Free 30 Day Trial License or by purchasing a Full License. |

| Very nice and convenient. It can either ping server, connect to the specified port or get an HTTP page and check if specified words are present (or not present). If errors are detected it can show a message, play sound, sent E-mail or network message, shutdown... Also, when the program is running it's working as a web-server, so you can easily check your servers' state from any computer... |

Been running the trial version 3.10 for a week now. Very reliable. Few false warnings. I like the ability it has to send email / pager notification when server comes back up, not just when it goes down. Very flexible in sending notifications. I bought one of the new Timex Watches from http://mobile.timex.com for $90US and set the program up to page my new watch if anything changes. Had to customize the message to fit key data into the first 100 characters because of that limitation, but I sent a cc: to a regular email address for backup as well. Could have sent message to my cellular phone as easy as email or pager. And yes, I'm using a different email smtp service for the alerts than the server I'm monitoring. :) I'll probably end up buying the $50 version. Would love the PRO version, but I'm too small to afford that cost right now.

Let me correct my description, it seems to be broken on this page (the Author): IPCheck is designed to continuously monitor one or more servers. It alerts webmasters if a webserver is not working correctly because the web service is down, CGI scripts return errors or the SQL server is not reachable. IPCheck analyzes the results and notifies the administrator when problems are identified. Additionally it can constantly monitor servers by attempting to connect through a PING command or through a specific port (e.g. HTTP=80, SMTP=25). Date: 2000-07-17 | Dirk Paessler |
